“Years later, I remembered the pain and realized it no longer had power over me.”

Today, I remembered something I haven't thought about in years.

I remembered how badly heartbreak used to hurt me.

I remembered the nights I cried.

The days I couldn't understand how someone I had spent so much time with could suddenly become a stranger.

I remember walking on the road and crying.

I remember blocking and unblocking.

I remember wanting to move on but still secretly hoping things would somehow go back to the way they were.

I remember how draining that period was.

It didn't just break my heart.

It drained me.

It took a part of me with it.

And the hardest part?

While I was trying to put myself back together, life continued for the other person.

They moved on.

They laughed.

They lived.

And I was still trying to figure out how to live without something that had become such a huge part of me.

That's the strange thing about heartbreak.

Two people can leave the same relationship, but they don't always leave with the same pain.

One person may move on quickly.

The other may spend months or even years trying to find themselves again.

But today, sitting and remembering everything, I realized something beautiful:

I made it out.

Not because it didn't hurt.

Not because I woke up one morning and magically stopped caring.

I made it out because I eventually decided that I couldn't keep returning to the same place that kept hurting me.

I had to choose myself.

I had to sit with the pain.

Cry when I needed to.

Accept that it was over.

Work on myself.

And remind myself:

“You deserve better.”

“You deserve more.”

Most importantly, I had to stop believing that going back was the only way to feel okay again.

And look at me now.

It's been years.

I genuinely hadn't thought about it in so long.

Until today.

And you know what surprised me?

It didn't hurt anymore.

It was just a memory.

A chapter.

Something I survived.

And honestly, there is something so beautiful about realizing that the thing you once thought would destroy you has become something you can remember without breaking down.

So if you're currently in that phase where you're crying every night...

Where you're checking their page...

Blocking and unblocking...

Wondering how they're okay while you're falling apart...

Where you're telling yourself:

“I'll never love again.”

Please, don't make a permanent decision based on a temporary chapter.

You will love again.

You will laugh again.

You will have peace again.

You will wake up one day and realize you went the whole day without thinking about them.

And eventually, you might even look back and be grateful that you didn't return to the place that broke you.

I don't know what you're going through right now.

But I know this:

No phase lasts forever.

Do the work.

Give yourself time.

Cry if you need to.

Grieve what you lost.

But don't lose yourself trying to get back someone who chose to leave.

And please don't let one person's inability to love you properly convince you that you are difficult to love.

Your story isn't over because one relationship ended.

Sometimes, losing someone is the beginning of finding yourself again. ❤️
