I just finished watching Avatar The Last Airbender Season 2, but a character struck something in me "General IROH" and he said "Mistakes were choices that felt right at the moment.”. There was a time I hated looking back.Not because the memories were painful, but because I couldn't understand the person I used to be. I'd revisit old conversations and cringe at the words I said. I'd remember decisions I defended with my whole chest, only to realize later they were leading me in the wrong direction. Sometimes I'd laugh at myself. Other times, I'd simply sit in silence, wondering how I could have been so sure and yet so wrong. Then one day, it hit me.I had been judging yesterday's version of myself with today's understanding.That isn't fair. The boy who made those choices had never lived through their consequences. I didn't know which friendships would become strangers. I didn't know that some opportunities expire quietly while you're busy convincing yourself there will always be another chance. I didn't know that people can mean every promise they make today and still break it tomorrow. I hadn't learned that not every closed door is a punishment and not every open one is a blessing.I simply chose what made sense at the time. When we look at people who made mistakes, we often imagine they ignored obvious warning signs. But life hardly works that way. Most mistakes don't arrive waving red flags. They come dressed as hope, excitement, love, ambition, curiosity, or even survival. They feel reasonable. They feel necessary. Sometimes they even feel right.That's why they're called mistakes. If they looked like disasters from the beginning, none of us would choose them.I've stopped asking myself, "Why didn't I know better?" The better question is, "How could I have known?" Wisdom is expensive. It rarely comes from reading quotes or listening to advice. More often, it's payment is through disappointment, failure, broken expectations, and long nights spent replaying moments you wish had gone differently like tonight. So, dear friend, Mistakes were choices that felt right at the moment. Don't let it hinders you from moving forward, and they are only called mistakes if we don't learn from them, when we do they call it lessons. Free yourself from the pain... Catalyst ✍️
