IT'S NOT YOURS, IT WAS BORROWED.

In a moment not so long now,

Just like a light that dares to leave as soon as it comes,

The Owner will come knocking, unapologetically,

Demanding the dear deed, reiterating:

“It’s not yours, for it was borrowed.”

Many have lost track of time.

Some, in pursuit of another’s pace, forget they won’t have it forever.

Many accepted too soon, without much ado.

Many are consumed by the fear of voices that ring:

“It’s not yours, for it was borrowed.”

Which state will you leave the borrowed axe?

Shattered? Useless for the next borrower?

Sunk deep in the deepest waters?

Lost, down in a forgotten cave?

Or buried deep in a deserted hole?

Remember: _it’s not yours, for it was borrowed._

A good borrower uses it to plough in due season,

Counting the cost and forging on as time whistles by.

He knows he only has the axe for a little while,

Mindfully ploughing a great harvest in no time,

Before the Owner comes knocking, and alas;

“It’s not yours, for it was borrowed.”
