You see, one thing about university life is that no matter how prepared you think you are, university will always humble you. 😭😂 I remember when I got admission, I was telling my siblings, “Omoh, na attachment I go dey do. I go dey chop correct meat.” 😭 In my head, I was already imagining myself doing attachments, eating big meat and enjoying university life. 😂 Nobody told me that the attachment I was talking about would be ordinary weaving for one whole month. 😭😭 Nobody told me that sometimes you will see money in the morning and school runs will collect everything before evening. 😭 Nobody told me that sometimes you will pray for food and your prayer will be: “God, abeg make there be food. Meat sef no matter.” 😭 Meanwhile, this was the same me that was bragging to my siblings that I would be eating big meat in school. 😭😂 Nobody told me that sometimes if you finally see oil and rice, that food will taste like Hilda Baci cooked it herself. 😭😂 ₦500 will suddenly feel like ₦1,000. Especially during exam period. Very traumatic something. 😩 We even had a name for it: Akungba Igbeyin. Chimoooooo 😩😭 You will want to call home, but then you'll remember that they just sent you money 2 days ago. So instead, you'll start looking for that one friend you can go to because she fit cook make you chop. 😂 Sometimes, you just dey listen to music and dey drink water. 😩 That was when I fell in love with Juice WRLD songs. Omoh, hunger dey cause depression ooo. 😭😂 I remember when I was in 100 level. Me and this girl were hungry. Ewooo. 😭 There was this guy in the villa that we didn't even really talk to. He saw us looking like two hungry Rottweilers and asked, “What happened?” And me, with the kind of pride I have even when I don't have shishi in my pocket, said: “Nothing.” My friend screamed, “NOTHING KEE?? NA HUNGER OOO!” 😭😭😭 This guy gave us ₦3,500 to buy food. Aaaaaah! Abdullah, God will bless you! 😭😂 If you ask God for water, He will give you Pacific Ocean. 😭😭 We cooked white rice, fried pepper sauce and egg. Gawwwd! 😩😭 That food tasted HEAVENLY. I still remember it and laugh. 😂 It's funny how university can humble you so badly, yet somehow give you some of the funniest memories of your life. What's one university experience that humbled you but you can laugh about now? 😭😂
