"I knew you were dumb but I didn't know it was this bad" Amanda scorned Tina as they stood under a mango tree talking. "So, I stooped so low to your level just to speak with you and you fumbled. I mean I am doing you a favour and it's a privilege. At least with what I pay you, you can complete your school fees you dumbhead. See, opportunity comes but once and I know it's not easy for your parents so I offered to help your life and what ever made you think Adaugo will believe you? That one? She's wrapped around my finger. There's nothing that would ever make her believe someone like you with no class, shame and lack of wit. The deal still stands else, you know me, you would regret being in this school. So with a sense of urgency, I need you to carry out the plan this night. We would go out and I will give you location of the place so you just come around like it's a surprise and you do the needful. Don't ever try to act like I know you, else I won't pay you completely. Now get your miserable self out of my face and better use your head today." Amanda said with hands on the waist and demeaning stare as Tina walked away."

Tina walked away with palpitating heart and shaky hands. Her palms sweated like she just committed murder whereas the crime she was to commit wasn't that gruesome. She wept.

She went back to the hostel and cried. Tina always seemed indifferent and carefree but was an emotional soul. She wept bitterly and regretted ever coming to school and meeting such nightmare.

"It's better I tell somebody about this thing o. What if I fail or what if Adaugo finds out? What if Amanda later turns all the blame on me? What would become of me? Ohh God! What did I do to deserve all these? Father Lord please help me carry out this operation without failure. I will become serious in school and change completely. God please...mummy can't hear I did anything bad because we have nobody to save us from these people..." She broke down in tears again to the extent she couldn't breath properly anymore. She texted precious about the whole thing she was instructed to do. Precious called after seeing her message.

"I thought they were best friends. Why would Amanda ever want to do such thing to her?" Precious asked, surprised.

"Omo, I don't know o she said Amanda is taking the spotlight and she's drawing so much attention from lecturers and students while she's just there in the background and it's as if her beauty is not enough to draw attention. Now she wants me to drop something in her food that would make her sick so she can leave school for a while." Tina explained.

"So wait nah the reason be that?"

"Yes"

"This girl wicked o. The devil you fear is close to you abi how dem take talk am" She laughed. "I think what we would do is inform Mrs okwueze. (Mrs Okwueze was a religious woman who was loved by most students because of her simplicity and ability to carry everyone along without being bias. She most times acted as a mother to them). That's the only option because the situation have pass our power and there's nothing we can do."

"You are right, P. Nah wetin we go do be that. I've been thinking how I will do this thing because I no fit. Just imagine say I no do the thing well. You know that girl nah, she go just blame me. Chaii! Which kind life be this like this?" Tina lamented.

"A problem shared is a problem half solved. Thank God say you tell me atleast. I am happy for you for that" Precious said.

"Pipi, so way forward. How we wan take arrange am. We gats meet because she say make e no pass today." This is 2:15. We no get time. She say they will leave by 5:30."

"No worries I dey come meet you then we go to Mrs Okwueze and I go act as your witness. Balance yourself my dear no worry. I gat you"

Tina broke down again. Reflecting over what would have happened if she had nobody.

"Okay I dey wait for you"

"I don tell you say make you no dey cry anyhow. You gats stay rugged. No let them see you weak. Just prepare I dey come"

Precious hanged up as Tina heaved a sigh of relief and smiled as she got up to get dressed.

Thanks for your time. You can encourage me to write better stories by sending me tips. Thank you.☺️
At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
