I watched one of the most chilling things I've seen in recent times on Twitter. It was a video of a dog sleeping peacefully, then entered a Leopard. This Leopard just hovered over the dog, still, watching it sleep.

As I watched with my stomach forming knots at a scene that quite honestly was a thing of cinema. So much tension in such a calm moment. Each moment the dog breathed, my body cringed and tightened expecting something to happen but the Leopard didn't make a move, it simply just stood there watching. Then for whatever reason, call it Instinct, the dog stirred and woke up. And in that instant, the Leopard lunged for its neck. The struggle began, blood splattering everywhere as the Leopard maintained it's grip. With strength leaving the dog, the Leopard pulled the dog away from the door, as it had overpowered it's prey.

This is not a story about wildlife, or how scary predators and nature are (though they effortlessly are). This is a post about life, nature and reality. These are the most honest things I've come to embrace as a baseline. Yes, they are subject to change, and you can twist, and manipulate your way through them, but those things are a great basis to begin with if you hope to be honest with yourself. To grow in life, you gauge where you are presently, your environment and factors influencing your environment and then build a solid plan around that.

Honesty is like that Leopard watching the dog (plans, dreams, goals). Honesty is not wicked, neither is it brutal. It may seem cold, but it is just doing what is in its nature. Maintaining the natural order of things. It cares not what your lofty goals and ambitions are, if you are caught sleeping and unprepared, you will be prey. You can curse at the world, hate and blame other people or just learn from it, count your losses and move forward.

As I watched the video and reminded myself how society and civilization has deluded some of us of how real nature and the world can be. I went through the comment section and found to my relief that the dog did survive the attack.

So, I'll leave you with this once again, this is not a story about nature, Dogs and Leopards

BRUTAL HONESTY
