DAY 3 OF THE WEEK LONG CHALLENGE

In today’s insight, I will be explaining and bringing forward to you guys some observations and suggestions proposed by one of the amiable guest speakers, Sheikh Abdulrozaaq Mubashir Woleola Aafakallah, at the ICAD conference. These suggestions were postulated by him to promote and address the challenges facing world peace.

In this regard, Sheikh Abdulrozaaq Mubashir Woleola Aafakallah emphasized the fact that the most important thing in you is your inner being, just like the lead which is the most important part of a pencil. Similarly, the inner being of an individual, which includes values, character, conscience, beliefs, and mindset, is what truly guides actions, not just appearance, status, or power. Therefore, if we structure our inner being in a good way, we will be able to develop good habits and character that will hinder our interest in violence, conflict, and hatred. Based on this fact, we can understand that peace begins inside the human heart before it appears in society.

Furthering his explanation, he made a significant reference to the fact that it is human nature to make mistakes, because humans were predestined to commit errors. However, it is very important to learn from previous mistakes in order to have a bright and brilliant future. Relating this to world peace, the mistakes made by our forefathers, ancestors, and elders that disrupted the progress and peace of society must be avoided by the youth and upcoming generations. This is because repeating the same mistakes would destabilize society far beyond what was caused by ancient people. The conflicts and wars waged in the past brought nothing but disruption and destruction, making them disastrous mistakes. Learning from these mistakes will eventually lead to the promotion of local, regional, and global peace.

He also mentioned that the world we live in today is full of diverse thoughts and ideologies known as “Haqidah”, but regardless of this diversity, we should be able to tolerate one another. Moving forward, he grouped these Haqidahs into three types.

First, “Mine is mine and yours is yours.” This type of Haqidah makes individuals selfish and unwilling to tolerate others’ opinions and ideas. It makes people reluctant to accept corrections and mistakes, which may lead to disagreement and conflict.

Second, “Mine is yours and yours is mine.” This is the kind of Haqidah encouraged by the Prophet. It creates open-minded individuals and allows tolerance of different perspectives and opinions. This type of Haqidah contributes significantly to the development of peace in society and the world at large.

Lastly, “Nothing is mine and nothing is yours.” This Haqidah builds sensitive minds who understand that nothing truly belongs to them, such as life, health, and even death. It draws minds and souls closer to their Lord and reduces involvement in criminal activities that could disrupt the peace of the world.

What do you think about this insight?

Can all these be possible solutions to the challenges of world peace?

Let me know what you think in the comments!
