DEAD BEN: LETTERS TO THE LIVING (BRIDGES & WALLS)
Listen to this Insight
The youngest in the fold, "The Tough Cat" that bites. The one who says it as it is and says things with her full chest Adiyah, let them breathe! You know I see through it because I look deeper. I know all about walls. I mean, no one saw beyond the innocent veil behind my beautiful smile. I know you'd want to defend yourself and say this letter isn't for you, but that's you just being you. I'll win the argument because you'll stop first. Abi you wan de follow dead guy argue! Lol! It's fine to raise walls, and I get that sometimes it's our way of protecting ourselves from those we label wrong people. On the flip side, it makes it difficult for the right people to come through. There's so much behind your big heart, so let it shine. Oh, and yeah, get stronger behind those walls. The walls we raise are not an apt reflection of how strong we are. This begs the question, Who are you behind the wall? What's on the other side? What treasures do you hold that others must look for? In short, who are you, and what do you want? I'll be sending this letter twice in case you stylishly push it aside. Adiyah, you're strong, but you don't always have to fight or give the impression that you're a warrior. Sometimes true victory lies in the ability to retreat. I'm saying this so you know it's alright to walk away and disengage. Learn to breathe. Give love and take love, but by all means, be yourself—a better version, though. Maybe I will miss you, and it's fine if you don't miss me—hard girl, wey de find soft life! Safe. Smiles, Dead Ben
