Forgiveness.
<p><img alt="" src="/media/inline_insight_image/file_00000000c1b06246ac7a7fff8710909d.png" style="background-color: transparent;"/>Part 1.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p>I’m hurt...</p><p>I trusted and loved </p><p>yet I was stabbed.</p><p><br/></p><p>I never knew</p><p>being nice and friendly</p><p>could open the door</p><p>to betrayal and venom.</p><p><br/></p><p>I showered love,</p><p>but what I gained in return</p><p>was a devil’s smile.</p><p>They acted friendly in my presence,</p><p>but nailed me with their words</p><p>when my back was turned.</p><p>They wounded me,</p><p>then wore kindness like a mask.</p><p>They thought I would never see</p><p>the shadows behind their smiles.</p><p><br/></p><p>I was bitter.</p><p>Felt the urge to harm them too </p><p>but what would I gain?</p><p>You don’t repay evil with evil...</p><p>do you?</p><p><br/></p><p>I was angry,</p><p>clutching the hurt,</p><p>but it pierced me each time,</p><p>draining me dry.</p><p><br/></p><p>I wasn’t healing </p><p>only sinking deeper</p><p>into resentment.</p><p><br/></p><p>So I dropped the stones I carried.</p><p>I chose peace </p><p>like a baby stretching out</p><p>for a mother’s arms.</p><p><br/></p><p>It’s freedom, not weakness.</p><p>Holding on pierces deeper</p><p>than letting go.</p><p><br/></p><p>Once I held anger like fire </p><p>now I hold peace like water.</p>
