Hollowed Out.
<p><br/></p><p>I am a ghost haunting my own life,</p><p>fingertips tracing a screen,</p><p>searching for a version of us</p><p>that no longer exists.</p><p>I feel like a lunatic,</p><p>trapped in the orbit of a man</p><p>who does not deserve the light I give.</p><p>He calls me a "disturbance,"</p><p>and I respond with an apology.</p><p>He asks for a "break,"</p><p>and I offer another apology.</p><p>He wounds me,</p><p>and still, I am the one saying "I’m sorry."</p><p>Why do I apologize for the space I take?</p><p>Why do I say "sorry" for the love he couldn't hold?</p><p>I am draining myself to fill a cup</p><p>that was never meant for me.</p><p>I am breaking my own heart</p><p>just to keep the pieces near him.</p><p>I know he doesn't deserve me.</p><p>Yet, I cannot seem to let go.</p><p>It is eating me alive</p><p>this desperate, hollow hope</p><p>that if I am just quiet enough,</p><p>or sorry enough,</p><p>I might finally be enough…..</p>
