How to Lock in as a Software Developer

If you're serious about becoming a software developer, it's time to lock in.

Not “when I feel like it.”

Not “when I’m less busy.”

Lock in for real.

Here’s how I’d do it (and how you can too):

1. Pick one focus

Frontend? Backend? Mobile? Don’t try to learn everything at once. Pick one and give it time.

2. Build, build, build

Watching tutorials is good, but you really learn when you start building.

It can be something small like a button, a form, a portfolio. Just start.

3. Be consistent

Even 30 minutes a day adds up. You don’t need 5 hours, just show up regularly.

4. Use GitHub

Push your code. Track your progress. Treat it like your coding journal.

5. Find community

Learning alone is hard. Find people learning like you. Ask questions. Learn faster.

6. Confusion is normal

You’ll get stuck. You’ll feel lost. That’s part of learning. Don’t quit.

The honest truth is there’s no magic trick.

You just have to show up, even when it’s hard.

So, if you’re reading this and you’ve been inconsistent, this is your sign.

Lock in. Let’s build.
