Ìfẹ́
<p>We are raised to believe love is loud.</p><p>Roses.</p><p>Red hearts.</p><p>Grand confessions.</p><p>Proposals.</p><p>But we have to realize that love is often the quietest thing in the world.</p><p>That <em>Ìfẹ́</em>, as the Yoruba call it, </p><p>Is not always a feeling.</p><p>Sometimes....it is a decision.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><em>Ìfẹ́</em> is a mother,</p><p>pretending she is not tired,</p><p>so her children can sleep without fear.</p><p>It is in the way she says,</p><p>“I am fine,”</p><p>while her hands smell of pepper, soap, and sacrifice.</p><p>It is her staying awake in the dark,</p><p>counting bills like prayers,</p><p>hoping it will be enough to feed the family tomorrow.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><em>Ìfẹ́</em>  is a father,</p><p>who has never said the words,</p><p>not once.</p><p>But his back bends every morning</p><p>like a question mark,</p><p>trying to answer his family’s future.</p><p>He speaks love in school fees,</p><p>in chats full of transaction receipts,</p><p>and in the quiet grinding of a life he is building for others.</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><em>Ìfẹ́</em>  is a friend,</p><p>who sits beside you</p><p>when your world collapses.</p><p>No speeches.</p><p>No solutions.</p><p>Just presence.</p><p>Because sometimes,</p><p>the deepest form of love</p><p>is refusing to let someone suffer alone.</p><p><strong><em><br/></em></strong></p><p><strong><em><br/></em></strong></p><p><em>Ìfẹ́</em> is a lover,</p><p>whose silence makes you invent words,</p><p>whose presence turns your mind into a thousand questions.</p><p>Every glance, every small gesture,</p><p>the one who turns grown adults</p><p>into poets, detectives, and overthinkers overnight.</p><p>Suddenly, you are analyzing “k,”</p><p>like it is a full sentence:</p><p>“Did they mean okay?”</p><p>“Are they angry?”</p><p>“Is this how it ends?”</p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><em>Ìfẹ́</em>  is you,</p><p>looking in the mirror and not flinching,</p><p>cooking for one,</p><p>scrolling through TikTok,</p><p>watching a movie,</p><p>dancing to songs only you can hear,</p><p>laughing at your own jokes.</p><p>It is quietly urging yourself forward,</p><p>choosing your heart over fear,</p><p>over shame,</p><p>over everyone else’s expectations.</p><p>It is learning you can be your own home,</p><p>and still invite the world in.</p><p><strong><em><br/></em></strong></p><p><strong><em><br/></em></strong></p><p><em>Ìfẹ́ </em> is bigger than any of us yet it's in us.</p><p><br/></p><p>It carries quiet mornings,</p><p>small victories,</p><p>the people who stand beside us,</p><p>heartbreaks we never speak of, and</p><p>the laughter and tears that shape who we are.</p><p><br/></p><p>It has always been here,</p><p>in the things we overlook,</p><p style="text-align: justify; ">In those who remain when others leave,</p><p><em>Ìfẹ́</em>  was never something we had to find,</p><p>only something we had to learn to see.</p>
