“Is there someone else ?” Is one of my favorite songs from The Weeknd.
My ex boyfriend and I got to that point in our relationship where we asked ourselves “what the fork are we doing?” And while we knew that our relationship was sinking, I never for once thought that there’d be someone else. We were both going through things, individually and as a couple.
I was going to order food from Kilimanjaro and MTN was acting up. I turned around to ask him for his phone but as soon as I turned, he fidgeted. Mind you, we were laying on thesame bed and we both had access to each others’ phones because we had a thing called transparency. “What is the matter?” I asked, but he said it was nothing. I noticed he had been on WhatsApp, clearly texting someone. “Who are you texting”
“I said it’s nothing, I was just distracted. Do you want something?”
“Nope, I’m good” I replied. In that moment, it clocked that there could be someone else.
Before that day, I had hardly ever gone through his phone. Sincerely, I had no reason to do that, until that weird incident. I gave it a few days, put on my boots and glasses, with a handkerchief in my pocket (just in case). It was time for me to snoop !
On the morning I snooped, I waited for him to go to the bathroom for his usual 5 hours shower- 25mins actually but it seemed longer than that for some unknown reason. I unlocked the phone with my shaky hands. Why were they shaking ?? I saw someone say on Twitter, that the adrenaline from snooping through your partner’s phone was on a different level. There I was, confirming that it was true. I opened the phone and went straight to business. I remembered the “conversation” was happening on WhatsApp and the name I saw looked like Sandra or Sonia- not sure but something with an “S”. So I clicked on search icon and typed “S” The only name with an “S” was Sharon. Sharon, it is then !
I opened the message and the last message was from Sharon “gudnight luv”. Such a low life, she can’t even spell!
I knew there was still time but it felt like I was running out of time. There wasn’t time to scroll so I just typed “love”. No results. Okay Sharon, he does not love you. Then I typed “luv” 17 results; most of them were from Sharon “hi luv” “gudnight luv” “okay luv”. Sharon has a serious problem. Who spells this way in 2023 ? Then I take a step further and search “sex”. Bingo !
“What is your favourite sex position” and the message wasn’t from Sharon. Why is my “boyfriend” asking Sharon such a question?. Could it be that… never mind. I’m running out of time, so I search “kiss” and I’m not ready for the results. “I enjoyed kissing you today”. I knew I had arrived at my destination.
From my investigation, I uncovered that they met on new years’ eve and they had hung out a couple of times. The were already making plans to copulate.
If you ever feel like there is someone else, I’m here to tell you that you’re not crazy and there could actually be another person, or a bunch of people. I’m here to encourage you to go through that phone today. I endorse snooping (especially with reason) But be ready for literally ANYTHING. Except you want to be ignorant, After all… it’s bliss. Cheers 🥂
Have you ever gone through your partner’s phone before ??. What did you see ???
