Men's Hair: Strands of Pride or Shame?

In most African countries, hair is a delicate topic when it concerns men. For women, hair is considered to be their veil. But for men, keeping grown hair usually carries a negative impression.

In Cameroon, for example, young boys' hair are shaved as soon as they turn 1 year. Then when they get to school, they maintain low cut till University and even in the professional world. Some professions do not allow men to keep afros or dreadlocks. But when these men succeed in traveling to European, Asian or American countries, they keep their hair and maintain either afros or dreadlocks - for those who wish to keep hair, because style is subjective.

Have you observed that as well in your country? What could be the reason for the men keeping low cuts in your country? Let me know in the comment section.
