Our good ole boring love

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">They said love should feel like fireworks.

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">They say that love is burning for one another, that love is chaotic, overwhelming, sharp butterfly wings fluttering in the belly.

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">So that's what she looked for, what she learned to yearn for.

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">Then came Adeiza. This perfect boy. His love didn't burn, didn't give her explosions or make her forget her name.

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">Instead it gave her peace, it gave her comfort. Safety.

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">Naturally, she knew something was wrong.

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">Her friends told her that something better would come along, someone she could scream in the rain with and have steamy sex with after.
<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">But she didn't want to scream in the rain, she wanted to dance in it.

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">She wanted hot chocolate on cold nights, and cute poetry left for her on sticky notes all around the house.

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">She loved the way he made her mornings soft, how he remembered to refill her water bottle without asking, how he held her hand without thinking of it as anything dramatic.

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">They didn’t call it love. They called it “boring.”

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">And maybe it was. But boring didn’t leave her heart racing in panic. Boring didn’t make her doubt herself. Boring didn’t vanish at sunrise.

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">She realized then: fireworks are beautiful.

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">But they burn out fast.

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">What she had was a lighthouse.

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">Steady. Quiet. Always there. Guiding her home.

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">And maybe that was the real revolution, choosing love that doesn’t entertain the world, but keeps two hearts safe.

<span ;="" style="font-size:17px">The type of love that doesn't burn, but stands with you in the middle of the heavens and earth and tells you who you are.
