PEOPLE ATE EGYPTIAN MUMMIES (CORPSES)
Woah! did you know that the reason Egyptian mummies are so rare today is because people ate them in the Victorian -era ? Quite appalling yeah ? But since the 12th century , Europeans have been consuming mummies (corpses) as medicine . They would host elaborate parties which involved opening and unwrapping mummies to consume for their medicinal properties and enjoyment. They would also crush up remnants of the mummy dust to sprinkle on tea and garnish their toast . Meanwhile in later centuries, even unmummified corpses were passed off as mummy medicine , and eventually some no longer cared wether the bodies they were ingesting were mummified or not . Many renaissance paintings even had a pigment called “mummy brown” that were made from the bodies of those that were grave robbed. Female mummies are even more rare because most have been destroyed by necrophilia. The rich believed eating the part of the body that was causing problems will cure their illnesses too. Mummies were also used as fuel on old locomotive trains back in the day . Are you shocked? Let me know in the comment section other aged long practices you know of that got you shocked .
