RESENTMENT IS A SILENT KILLER.
So, I’m definitely not a coach but here is my Twocents on handling resentment in relationships effectively that I’ve learnt over time . I’ve noticed when something upsetting happens and people don’t talk about it the right way , the faults start getting collected.They pile up and become resentments.Each time there’s a new argument or upsetting moment they are waiting to come out . The more faults we collect the harder it is to move forward because each argument is also about all of the arguments before.Each disappointment compounded by the previous let down. Learning to talk about what happened in a regrettable moment in any relationship whatsoever, can help to protect that relationship . Let’s try this instead : 1. Talk about WHAT happened rather than talking about the topic again .Share observations - Deacribe what you both remember feeling and doing .For example, you can say « I remember when I saw you look at your phone I felt really frustrated and thought I was being ignored ». 2. Apologize for your contribution to the issue. 3. Discuss how you could make it different next time.Each person can then share what they personally will do to make it better and what they need from the other person. Any other points to add ?
