"It's my life and I would live it how I want", "I would do what I want so please leave me alone"

These and more are sayings that have pervaded the society from time immemorial.

Now you may start to fold your face or turn your nose up wondering whether I am approaching a point of sorts but let me assure you that it would be evident as you progress

Do we understand that we cannot live in this world by ourselves? No matter how you try to traverse this space, it is impossible to live without some form of dependency. In fact if that were possible, there would be only one person alive, enjoying him or herself and living la vida loca

But I digress

It really is impossible to do things on your own so the weight the aforementioned statements hold is light if not non-existent

If I want to sleep, I need a bed and someone must have made that bed, the clothing used to cover it, the night wear I would be wearing, the blanket that would cover me if it's cold, the fan or air conditioner I sleep with, the room I sleep in, the windows that would serve as some form of protection and ventilation, basically the house I would be abiding in was made by someone.

If I must survive, I need food, clothes and a means of sustenance. The job I would get or service I would offer has to come from a customer; if I am living off the grid, the bush I would enter was set up by someone, the knowledge of what to eat and how to survive there was put in my head by someone (the creator), the strength to catch game(animals) was not built by me but someone responsible for my creation. Anything you can think of is made possible by someone so I wonder why we keep touting these maxims.

When we even say "self-made billionaires and millionaires", my insides guffaw because I would never understand why we think someone can get rich on their own. Then who are these people that they thank when they talk about their success? Who are these mentors and friends and family that we see brought up? What about you who is buying the product? What aspect of that is self-made?

I know we would never admit that most of us who say this have a large sense of arrogance or pride but that is exactly what it is. A wise person knows that you cannot get through life on your own. If that was the case, suicides would not be as rampant.

Support is a secret element in every relationship and your measure of success is the extent of your support currency. This support comes from the people around you so never downplay it

I had posted a not so cryptic but disturbing post two days ago and I got responses from my brothers and some good guy friends of mine(shout out to men, they are just amazing) and in that moment I felt so seen. I felt a sense of comfort that in my circle there are people who are worried about my well-being. Imagine if I got no response? I definitely do not want to think about that but instead focus on being grateful to God for amazing people in my life

So I would say this; nothing about life removes dependency. In fact, if you are thinking in that direction, you need to heal from whatever trauma it is because it is predicated on that(trust me, I understand and know very well)

Not asking for help is useless and does you no good. There is a lot that could get done with the right people, right mindset and right circumstances. Seek help if you need it and never be ashamed

Being a "tough guy" is not one for the books. That is what animals do, humans are made to be more. In fact, even animals depend on each other or have you not seen that wolves and lions move in packs and prides respectively?

DON'T IGNORE THE TEAM TO GET YOUR DREAM

STAY BLESSED AND ENJOY YOUR FRIDAY

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR FRIDAY PLANS

HAPPY READING
