SO THIS IS LOVE

He said she texted him again — the I miss you kind. The kind that sounds casual but carries the weight of everything that wasn’t said before.

They’re meeting soon, “just to talk.” Just. As if that word ever kept feelings in check.

I listened, smiling a little — half-interested, half… something else. Maybe wonder. Maybe confusion. Maybe envy — not for her, or him, but for whatever it is that makes people keep trying even when they know it might hurt again.

Love has always felt like a song I haven’t quite learned the lyrics to. I know the rhythm, the pauses, the sighs between lines — but never the words themselves. I tell myself I’m not in a hurry, that life is full, that it’s fine. And maybe it is.

Still, watching him talk about her — the way his voice softened, the way he almost smiled — I caught myself thinking, quietly, almost with awe…

So this is love.
