Chapter 1: The Legend of the Silent Witch (1750)

The year was 1750. In the small, muddy township of Oakhaven, a tiny, dilapidated wooden house stood apart from the others. Inside, an old woman named Margarita tended a meager garden. She was a healer, a solitary figure who used herbs and roots, but in a time of fear, her isolation was mistaken for malice.

When the crops failed and a fever began to take the children, the townsfolk looked for a scapegoat. They whispered that it was the witch, the silent one, who poisoned the earth.

A mob, armed with torches and pitchforks, descended on Margarita's house. They dragged her out, but she did not resist. She looked upon them with an expression of cold, desolate pity.

In the town square, Margarita was bound to a rough-hewn stake. As a torch was brought near the dry wood, Margarita raised her head. Her voice, low and guttural, cut through the mob’s angry shouts.

"The silence you force upon me shall be repaid by the silence of your own blood! The fire you use to cleanse your fear shall be the mirror of your doom!"

The fire consumed her. Her final, agonizing screams were swallowed by the inferno. Only ashes remained. The silence that settled over Oakhaven was heavy, a malevolent promise of return.
