The Legacy Of Boro

In the heart of the Niger Delta, a legendary figure emerged, Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro, a champion of self-determination and a hero to his people, whose courageous story is etched in the annals of history.

In Oloibiri, a town so fair,

A hero was born, with a spirit so rare,

Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro, a name so bold,

A champion of rights, for the Ijaw people to hold.

He grew up in the Niger Delta, with a heart so bright,

Saw the struggles of his people, and vowed to fight,

For a better life, with access to education and healthcare too,

He knew that his people deserved, a life that was fair and true.

He walked through the streets of Kaiama, with a vision so grand,

A town that would one day, be the headquarters of his plan,

To liberate the Ijaw people, from the shackles of oppression and pain,

And bring them to a place, where they could live with dignity and gain.

He formed the Niger Delta Volunteer Force, with a mission so clear,

To fight for the rights, of the Ijaw people, and wipe away their tears,

With a courage so strong, and a heart so pure,

He led his people, through the darkest hour, to a brighter future, secure.

The Niger Delta Republic, was declared with pride,

A new nation, born out of the struggles, of the Ijaw people inside,

But the federal government, did not take kindly to this new state,

And sent in their troops, to crush the rebellion, and terminate their fate.

The battle was fierce, the war was long,

But Boro's spirit, remained strong,

He fought for his people, with every breath,

And gave his life, for their freedom, and their death.

Though the rebellion was short-lived, and the republic did fall,

Boro's actions brought awareness, to the struggles of them all,

The federal government took note, and began to make amends,

For the neglect and marginalization, of the Ijaw people's needs and trends.

Boro joined the Nigerian Army, and fought with bravery and might,

For the unity and stability, of the country, shining so bright,

He rose through the ranks, with a distinguished career,

And became a major, with a reputation, that was crystal clear.

But his life was cut short, in a tragic and untimely demise,

Leaving behind a legacy, that still inspires, and opens eyes,

To the struggles of the Ijaw people, and the Niger Delta region as a whole,

A legacy that will continue, to inspire, and make us bold.

Today we remember Boro, as a hero, and a pioneer,

A champion of self-determination, and a fighter, for what is dear,

His spirit lives on, in the hearts of the Ijaw people,

A symbol of hope, and courage, that will forever be steeled.

Kaiama remains a symbol, of Boro's struggle, and might,

A reminder of the sacrifices, he made, for the welfare, and rights,

Of the Ijaw people, and the Niger Delta region, as a whole,

A legacy, that will continue, to inspire, and make us bold.

The streets of Kaiama, still whisper his name,

A hero, who fought, for the freedom, and the fame,

Of the Ijaw people, and the Niger Delta region,

A legacy, that will forever, be etched, in the annals of history's page.

And as we look, to the future, and the challenges, that lie ahead,

We remember Boro's courage, and his spirit, that will never be dead,

We draw strength, from his legacy, and his fight,

For a better life, for the Ijaw people, and the Niger Delta region's light.
