<p><br/></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent;">*Bauchin Yakubu*</span></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent;"><br/></span></p><p><span style="background-color: transparent;">We are at peace in the shadows, like litttle Gizo, trickster of old tales.</span></p><p>Bauchi is not loud.</p><p>We are calm even when declaring that we are proud.</p><p>*Kananun kafafuwa, takun sarakuna*</p><p>We may not be titans, yet our voices echo louder than the moon at midnight.</p><p>*Duk aikace-aikacenmu sai an nemi a kushe—</p><p>amma ya suka iya da mu?*</p><p><img alt="" src="/media/inline_insight_image/images_-_2026-02-20T173002.615.jpeg"/></p><p><br/></p><p>Bauchi is a wraith — a nation whispered, not announced,</p><p>a non-entity,</p><p>existing only in the bellowed recitals of states and capitals:</p><p>“_Bauchi! Bauchi!_” we chant,</p><p>yet its name on the list weighs light as air resistance.</p><p>*Sun ce mu ba ilimantattu ba ne.*</p><p>*A faɗa musu*—</p><p>*Bauchi gari ce da aka rera waƙar ilimi*</p><p>*tun kafin a ji ƙamshin takun malam bature*</p><p>*Duk suruce-surucensu karewa yake cikin takunkumi*</p><p>*suka ja da mu sai jiki ya yi dumi,*</p><p>*su karata can tsudum cikin gumi.*</p><br/><p>*Idan ba ka ji labari ba, ka tambayi tsuntsaye.*</p><p>Bauchi does not sing its own praises.</p><p>It hovers in lands of misty soothing.</p><p>It waits… it waits.</p><p>The songs of birds carry tales —</p><p>tales of treasures only the chosen can taste.</p><p>Bauchi sings with subtle grandiosity.</p><p>Hooves beat from *fadar sarki har faɗin gari.*</p><p>Turbans glisten beneath the sun’s wailing glare.</p><p>A million colours swarm, emergent as tapestry.</p><p>It is art.</p><p><br/></p><p>Royalty is a gown we wear.</p><p>Regal is our nature.</p><p>Even our houses wear crowns.</p><p>*Tambarin Arewa itace a manne a tutan jarumtaka.*</p><p>Bauchi births warriors.</p><p>Bauchi births beauty.</p><p>Tafawa Balewa was a son of this soil,</p><p>the first to captain this great ship.</p><p><img src="/media/inline_insight_image/images_-_2026-02-20T173325.717.jpeg"/></p><p>*Ga ni saurayi ɗan ƙasa*—</p><p>*haihuwar ƙasa* </p><p>*tashin ƙasa.*</p><p>*Zuri'ar Baturen shanu ta kafu nan garin Bauchi.*</p><p>*Su so mu ko su ƙi mu — gari tamu ce.*</p><p>*Ƙarin jarumtaka muka zo mata da shi.*</p><p>If in doubt, meet us at *filin dambe*</p><p>where courage shatters courage like wind splitting glass.</p><p><br/></p><p>*Hausa ba dabo ba ce.*</p><p>*Sauƙi gare ta*</p><p>*Sauƙi gare mu*</p><p>*Wadatattun zukata ba su amsa tunkarar tsiya*</p>
