The safety of being invisible Part 2

It's said that to make something a habit, one has to consistently work on whatever they wanted to achieve for at least 21 days before it can become a habit and then part of your personality although this might vary in some cases. People set goals and all what they want to achieve but without focus, consistency and determination, they end up miserable, stagnant and unforgiving to themselves. One has to first of all know what they want, why they want it and then strategize on how to work it out. Let's get back to our story about Adaugo.

Adaugo got into university to study law. Some course mates after research and analyzation of her lifestyle, made these remarks:

"Why will you choose law of all courses?"

"Law is not for smeh-smeh people"

"My dad said lawyers are meant to be very confident and outspoken"

"You dey use your future play"

"I know you can do it and I am rooting for you." Only one person convinced Adaugo she was in the right track — Amanda.

Amanda is a very pretty girl from Imo state. Amanda was calm and collected. Adaugo sometimes wondered why she chose to do her things alone. You rarely see her walking in group with others except it has to do with a project that requires collaboration.

"You must not be loud to let others know you are confident. Sometimes the loudest ones are empty on the inside and just wants to feel among or be noticed. I see no reason why you have to change your personality for a certain stereotype. I have a cousin that studied law. She actually inspired me even tho I was skeptical about this. She's so calm and gentle. She's the definition of serenity! She told me whatsoever I set my mind on to achieve, can actually be achieved. I only need to focus, be determined and be consistent. And well, it's been working for me. I mean I incorporated it into my lifestyle and I've seen changes. So if I can do it, so can you. Well I can't really say law is a course for the lazy because girl, there is stress o!" Amanda said laughing.

"Wait, how did you know all these? I mean I am a fresher and so are you. So why aren't you really new to this? Adaugo asked after a long pause.

"Well, it's not like what I said is a lot but I just do one thing - read. I love to read anything law-related and asides that I follow people who inspire me and one of them is a barrister. So I followed through her beginnings. When she was still a fresher like us and all she went through and how she paved her way into being the best graduating student with a first class. She did a lot tho." Amanda explained.

"Ohh wow! That's so cool. I mean it makes so much sense now how you know all these things. Adaugo said, smiling.

"So if she could do it and so many other lawyers out there and then my cousin sis then why can't we? I mean being the same and having one kind of personality would be so boring come to think of it. But let's not confuse confidence with being loud. There are loud people that are actually confident but not all loud people are confident. Also, a calm person, a gentle person, can actually be very confident as well."

Adaugo felt rest assured things would work out well between them. Maybe she would have to cling to Amanda and who knows she could become better at presenting and speaking up. The thought of speaking up or presenting gave her chills but she waved it off reminding herself to take one step at a time.

Amanda on the other hand, might not necessarily be who Adaugo thinks she is...
