"This can't be true." Adaugo muttered as her eyes welled up in tears. Amanda looked through the phone and seeing the message, she went on her knees, pleading. Adaugo just stood there trying to decipher Amanda's connection with Tina. Tina of all people. She calmly went back to sit as Amanda followed behind.

"Adaugo please listen to me, it's not what you think. I will never have anything to do with that girl. So Tina met me and said she wanted to be part of us. She wanted hanging out with us and even studying together. Knowing her type, I frankly told her we don't need a third party. She said she knows she doesn't fit into our circle but just for the sake of studying. I stood my ground and she later gave up. I didn't know Tina was planning something, Ada. Tina told me she would do something unforgettable to one of us and I was scared to tell you because I felt you will overreact and I was foolish to have underrated her, Ada. She's just a desperate girl and you don't want to lose your friend because of such person." Amanda narrated, breathing heavily as she talked. She knew Adaugo alot and knew this lie would work on her maybe just a little bit of acting. A little more acting she thought as she went close and knelt down before Adaugo, crying on her thighs and not wanting to let go. Adaugo felt really hurt but seeing how remorseful and apologetic Amanda was, she was willing to forgive any offense but remembering Tina mentioned Mrs Okwueze, made things suspicious but just as Adaugo was about lifting Amanda up on her feet to hug her, Tina, precious and Mrs Okwueze arrived.

"You better no hug am o. This girl hate you die!" Precious said while looking disdainfully as Amanda.

"Excuse me, what's happening here? Good evening Mrs Okwueze. Is there a problem? I wonder why I am seeing you here of all places" Adaugo said as she smiled trying to ease the tension of the whole situation. She turned to Tina with a raised eyebrows and Tina looked away.

"Well all glory to God for his mercies. I am here because I got a report that your so called friend, Amanda, threatened Tina to poison you today. Mrs Okwueze paused as she looked at Amanda who already stood up on her feet with shame written all over her. Adaugo turned to look at Amanda as if to say "tell me it's another tale". She felt a sharp pain surge through her chest.

"Poison me? Why? I mean why would Amanda do that?" Adaugo said looking disappointed with tears rolling down her cheeks. She was so softhearted that any thing at all could get to her.

"When I was telling you, you did not listen to me" Tina said trying to justify her actions.

All these while Amanda said nothing. She couldn't plead knowing fully well the secret is out. She planned evil against Adaugo and instead of coming plain and being remorseful, she lied further to deceive her the more.

Mrs Okwueze told Amanda to come with her as she would face the consequences of her actions regardless of the fact it wasn't successful.

Adaugo slumped into a chair with her eyes facing the sky as she ruminated over everything that had happened. Tina had told her the details of everything leaving nothing out.

"Why me? Why do things like this happen to me, God? Am I doing too much? Am I slow?". Adaugo bent her head as she cried. Adaugo cried because she invested so much into their friendship. She cried because she trusted too much. She cried because she gave her all but her all were not reciprocated. She felt used.

Tina and precious took pity on her as they helped her pack up her things because she was so weak and staggered. They dropped her off at her hostel and she bade them farewell.

Ada wrote:

Wanting good friends is not all that there is, are you willing to be a good friend? Why do you say you love people when you can't bear seeing them win in life? Does my wins make you feel like a failure seeing people are different with different destinies and purposes? Look at your finger prints; they are not same as mine even if we were to be siblings. It implies how differently wired we are. Don't hate people because they are better than you rather strive to become better at what you do. Become a master. A master doesn't beg for respect or accolades because he walks with the mentality he deserves them. It's never too late to reciprocate love. Nonchalance? That's crap! Reciprocate love as much as it's shown to you but pamper your heart, it could sustain injuries specially from people you love.

After pouring her heart out on her notepad, Ada laid flat on her bed as her stomach rumbled. She suddenly sat up as if woken up from a nightmare.

"Ouuuuhch I am craving suya" she said. "Don't worry we are getting suya after tomorrow's lecture. Weldon Ada. You are tough and resilient and I believe in you. You've done well." Her inner baby voice said as she fell asleep.

Monthly Score
The Top Monthly Contributors ranking is a monthly metric indicating how users respond to your posts, not just how many you publish.
We look at three main things:
1
How strong your best post is —
Your highest-scoring post this month carries the most weight. One great post can take you far.
2
How consistent the engagement you receive is —
We also look at the average score of all your posts. If your work keeps getting good reactions, you get a boost.
3
How consistent the engagement you receive is —
Posting more helps — but only a little.
Extra posts give a small bonus that grows slowly, so quality always matters more than quantity.
In simple terms:
A great post beats many ignored posts
Consistently engaging posts beat one lucky hit
Spamming low-engagement posts won't help
Tips, comments, and upvotes from others matter most
This ranking is designed to reward
Thoughtful, high-quality posts
Real engagement from the community
Consistency over time — without punishing you for posting again
The Top Monthly Contributors leaderboard reflects what truly resonates, not just who posts the most.
