The safety of being invisible. Part 5

"I am serious. I know you don't know because you are blinded by that girl. She made you stop associating with others and follow her around like a handbag to isolate you. You deserve better, you are actually more intelligent than she is. She's just using you to feed her ego and she's not much of a good person as you think, Ada. I know what I am saying . I just don't want to say something that later on would point fingers at me or better still she comes for me. I just wanted to warn you. I am not asking you to believe me but very soon, it will dawn on you. Better shine your eyes" Tina, Adaugo's coursemate said as they came out of the class.

Amanda wasn't in class. Adaugo felt bored and lonely, couldn't even participate in class but kept sleeping. Tina, a scruffy, indifferent girl in class, walked up to her seat and sat besides her, staring at her pitifully.

"Hi, Ada. what's happening to you today, are you okay?" She asked in a concerned tone.

"Hope you good?"

"Yeah, I am fine. I am just having a little headache. I didn't get enough sleep yesterday because I was reading." Adaugo explained weakly.

"Ohh so sorry about that. You know you are different from some of us. Some of us find it hard to read those PDFs or read anything at all." Tina said smiling.

"Find it hard to read keh? Then how do you want to pass, by magic?" Adaugo asked glaring at Tina. Tina shyed away.

"You absolutely have to put in the work to get desired results. Technology has actually made things easier for us. It's easier to pass exams now compared to old times. I mean we have different sources to source informations, we have AI that can elaborate things and break them down to even a better understanding to a baby, etc. So why? Why choose to be mediocre and complacent when you could become the people you dream of? I mean it's not easy but yes the work still needs to be done to attain that goal" Adaugo explained.

"You are actually right, dont mind me." Tina laughed nervously. I have something to tell you, Ada.

"I am all ears"

"Let's talk outside"

Adaugo looked at Tina as if to question the audacity. The last time she checked, this girl wasn't in her class and level. She loved gossip and sat at the back always chewing gums, blowing bubbles and coming late for lectures with makeup always so serious like it was a competition.

"When did that one start?" Adaugo asked.

"It's not that deep. I just want to bring something to your notice, ahh. Why you sef dey form like this. I thought they said you are very calm?"

"It's about your friend, Amanda."

As Tina mentioned Amanda, Adaugo's face lit up ready to attack or defend her friend.

They went out of the class and Tina spent few minutes explaining who Amanda was to her best friend, Adaugo. Adaugo couldn't believe her ears.

"Wait. So Tina you called me out here to shade Amanda, my best friend??? Are you insane I mean can you hear yourself? Well I made the mistake of following you out in the first place, I forgot that people like you don't know their place and pry in other people's businesses. Mind your business. Can you imagine this girl?" Adaugo was ready to defend Amanda any day, anytime.

"All I can say is, either she has casted a spell on you or you are already brainwashed. I've told you my own. I don't even want to tell you what she asked me to..."

"Hey girl" Amanda called as she hugged Adaugo from behind. Tina immediately went back inside the class and with arms folded, Adaugo stood glaring at Tina disgustingly.

"What's the problem, Ada? What are you doing with Tina of all people? That's so not you. What's going on? Amanda asked suspiciously.

Adaugo narrated all what Tina has just blorted out her mouth.

"Did she say something like I asked her to do anything?"

"Yes she said something like that but I was too angry to make meaning out of what she was saying"

"Ohh, see the way my baby is already exhausted. I've told you, you don't need these kind of people around you, they drain your energy and then Tina, Tina that local fool. I mean she might just be looking for ways to manifest foolishness in ways possible. Don't listen to people like that, girl.

They both went back inside the class as Amanda nervously sat down, awaiting the outcome of her new plan.
