I think Nigerians, particularly those residing in other states, have different views about Lagos. However, there's a generic perception that it's an opportunity hub.
Let me clearly state that only a few people in Lagos are sane, and I am one of those people! I'm saying it with my full chest, and I'm in my house! Come and beat me 😅
Nollywood has given some people the impression that you can "easily blow" once you move to Lagos.
Let me give you a brief analogy.
Emeka who is frustrated in the village somewhere in Owerri, moves to the City- "Lagos" to serve his older brother, and in 3 months he becomes a millionaire.

HOW NAAAAA!

In another case, he could fall in love with Nneka, who is from a wealthy family, and they could eventually live happily ever after irrespective of the objections from her family.

SCAM!!

BIG SCAM!!

A part of me wants to believe this is actually possible, but the other part is in utter disbelief. My dear, Lagos is not for the weak. Your temperament may change. I know mine did! It's not all glamorous as some may think, but you can do great things here.

You must give it your all because --"THIS IS LAGOS"--

This is Lagos!

If you like my insights, you can encourage me by sending a TIP. Thank you!
At the end of each month, we give out cash prizes to 5 people with the best insights in the past month
as well as coupon points to 15 people who didn't make the top 5, but shared high-quality content.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
