"We Are All Pick Me’s in Our Own Way"

"We Are All Pick Me’s in Our Own Way"

Let’s be real—no matter how much we drag "pick me’s," we’ve all had our own pick me moments. That one time you laughed too loud at your crush’s dry joke? Pick me behavior. When you pretended to hate the latest trending show just to seem different? Classic pick me. Or when you said, "I don’t even care about grades," but secretly cried over a B? That’s the pick me spirit right there.

In Nigerian student life, the pick me virus spreads fast. You’re either the "I only eat one meal a day" pick me (while hiding Indomie in your bag), the "I don’t even read, I just understand" pick me (yet you’re first in the library every morning), or the "I hate parties" pick me (but your eyes light up at the mention of any owambe).

Even in society, everyone’s trying to prove something—the "I’m not like other girls/guys" squad, the "I’m so humble" flexers, or the "I don’t chase money" folks (yet their prayer points are 90% financial breakthroughs).

So before we drag the next pick me, let’s remember—we all have that one thing we do just to be seen, liked, or accepted. The struggle is universal. Now, who’s ready to admit their own pick me moments? 👀💀
