‎Behind My Smile, I Was Breaking Inside (Episode 2)

‎A Safe Place

‎I never planned on telling anyone how I really felt.

‎For so long, I had kept everything bottled up inside. It was easier that way. No questions. No explanations. No chance of being misunderstood.

‎But somehow, things were different with them.

‎It started with simple conversations around school.

‎Nothing special.

‎Just random talks between classes, a few jokes here and there, and the occasional "How was your day?"

‎Yet every time we talked, I felt a little lighter.

‎A little less alone.

‎For the first time in a long while, I didn't feel like I had to pretend.

‎One afternoon, after a particularly exhausting day, they noticed I was quieter than usual.

‎"Are you okay?" they asked.

‎The question was simple, but it caught me off guard.

‎Most people asked out of habit.

‎They asked because they genuinely wanted to know.

‎At first, I brushed it off with a smile.

‎"I'm fine."

‎But they didn't seem convinced.

‎Instead of pushing, they simply stayed.

‎And for some reason, that made all the difference.

‎Slowly, I began to talk.

‎About the pressure.

‎About the disappointments.

‎About the things I laughed about in public but cried about in private.

‎I expected judgment.

‎I expected pity.

‎Instead, they listened.

‎Every word.

‎Every pause.

‎Every feeling I struggled to explain.

‎And when I finished, they didn't try to fix me.

‎They didn't tell me to "just be strong."

‎They simply understood.

‎That day, I walked back to my hostel feeling different.

‎The problems were still there.

‎Life hadn't magically changed.

‎But knowing that someone cared enough to listen made the burden feel a little less heavy.

‎For the first time in months, I felt like I had found a safe place in someone.

‎And I had no idea that this was only the beginning of a story that would change both of our lives.

‎To be continued...

‎Have you ever met someone who felt familiar from the very first conversation?

‎
