THE JOURNEY OF MY LIFE

CHAPTER EIGHT

RISING FROM THE ASHES

There comes a time in life when you realize that surviving is not enough.

You have to start living.

For many years, I had been focused on getting through each day. I had learned how to endure hardship, accept disappointment, and continue even when life was difficult. But eventually, something changed inside me.

I began to believe that I deserved a future.

Not because my life had been easy, but because I had survived everything that was meant to break me.

I started looking at myself differently.

I was no longer only the child who had lost her parents.

I was no longer only the girl who had left school because circumstances forced her to.

I was no longer only the person who had experienced poverty, separation, and uncertainty.

I was someone with dreams.

Someone with abilities.

Someone with a future.

That realization gave me a new kind of strength.

I began taking the opportunities that came my way more seriously. I became willing to learn, willing to work, and willing to start again whenever necessary.

I understood that I might not have had the same beginning as everyone else, but I could still work toward a meaningful future.

There were times when I doubted myself.

There were moments when my past came back to remind me of everything I had lost.

But instead of allowing those memories to hold me back, I began using them as motivation.

I thought about my mother.

I thought about the sacrifices she made.

I thought about the young girl I had once been—the girl who woke up early, worked hard, went to the farm, sold goods at the market, and sometimes went without food so others could eat.

That little girl had survived.

How could I now give up?

I could not.

I began to understand that strength does not always arrive loudly. Sometimes strength is simply deciding to try again.

Sometimes it is waking up after a disappointing day and saying, “I will continue.”

Sometimes it is believing in yourself when nobody else seems to understand your vision.

I had spent years waiting for life to become easier.

Then I realized that I could not wait forever.

I had to become stronger.

I had to take responsibility for my future.

I had to believe that my story could become more than the painful chapters I had already lived.

Slowly, I started rebuilding.

I became more confident in my decisions.

I became more careful about the people I allowed close to me.

I learned to appreciate small victories.

I stopped measuring my progress by how quickly I reached my destination and started measuring it by how far I had come.

And when I looked back, I realized I had come very far indeed.

The journey had not been easy.

But I was still standing.

I had survived the storms.

I had crossed difficult roads.

I had experienced loss.

I had known disappointment.

Yet somehow, I was still able to dream.

That was when I understood something important:

Hope is a form of strength.

As long as I could still hope, I could still move forward.

As long as I could still dream, my story was not finished.

As long as I was still willing to try, there was still a possibility of a better tomorrow.

I began to see my life differently.

My past was no longer a prison.

It was a foundation.

The pain I experienced became part of my wisdom.

The struggles became part of my strength.

The tears became part of my story.

And the lessons became part of the woman I was becoming.

I could not change what happened to me.

But I could decide what I would do with what happened.

That decision changed me.

I chose to rise.

I chose to believe.

I chose to keep going.

And for the first time, I stopped asking whether my life could become better.

I started asking myself:

“How far can I go?”

I did not have the answer yet.

But I was ready to find out.

The little girl who once struggled simply to survive was becoming a woman who was determined to build a life she could be proud of.

I had risen from the ashes.

And there was still a long road ahead.

But this time, I was not afraid of the journey.
