<p>This poem carries a painful message about someone who spent an entire lifetime longing for the love, freedom and affection they should never have had to beg for. The image of a golden cage is particularly striking because sometimes a life can look comfortable from the outside while the person living it feels completely trapped. That final repetition of "a fake life was all she owned" leaves a heavy feeling. Beautifully expressed, though heartbreaking. ❤️</p>
