<p>What stands out to me is that a lot of these clauses aren't necessarily unfair on their own. The real question is whether the risk is balanced. If a label can recoup its investment, demand delivery, control certain decisions and protect its assets, what happens when the label itself fails to do what it promised? A good deal shouldn't just answer “How does the label protect its money?” It should also answer “How does the artiste get protected when the label drops the ball?”</p>
