<p>This ending is painful because Shola's past explains where his hatred came from, but it doesn't excuse what he allowed that hatred to become. And that's the scary thing about prejudice: innocent people end up paying for things they never did. I also think the irony of the people he hated being the ones who saved him and Ife was a powerful way to drive the message home. Great story, Leeyah.</p>
