<p>I found the part about punishment being easier than actually dealing with the root of a problem interesting. I don't think accountability and rehabilitation have to be opposites either people can be held responsible for the harm they cause while we still ask why certain patterns keep happening in society.</p>

I agree with what you're saying but I'm being distinct with our need of accountability through the state being opposite to that of the community

Especially when we don't understand the problematic behaviours that cause crime in the first placeThanks for engaging
