<p>This was heavy, but I like how you separated understanding from excusing. The line “empathy stops where the bodies begin” really stood out to me. You can acknowledge that someone was seriously ill and that the system may have failed them, while still refusing to let that erase the three children who lost their lives. That balance is what made this piece hit hard.</p>
