People Don't Hate Corruption; They Just Hate That It Isn't Their Turn To Eat

Tomi Walker CEO @ Internova Technologies • Abuja • 1 day, 3 hours ago

I think the average Nigerian is amoral. Neither moral or immoral. The average Nigerian doesn’t have a strong personal conviction on what their limit is. And so they adapt to situations as opposed to create an environment. If the average Nigerian is in an environment with rules and consequences, they tend to comply. Once they’re in an environment without rules and consequences, they fall to the level of behavior that surrounds them. It is why Nigerians adapt to societies outside Nigeria

Ouu I love this take

But there are rules and consequences

If you get into power you get to manipulate it that you don't suffer consequences

I don't think that necessarily mean lack of rules is the cause

We're all prone to corruption because we're humans

But that doesn't mean we can't work on falling for the temptation

I get what you mean sir, but then what happens when there are no rules or consequences? 😂

Even in Nigeria, the rules are there, they just don't always work effectively.

So if we only do the right thing when someone is watching or when there are consequences, can we really say we hate corruption? Or we just know when not to get caught? 😂
