25th edition of 2024 International Mother Tongue Day
25th edition of 2024 International Mother Tongue Day speech by the Nkwen language project coordinator
Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests,
It is with great honor and pride that we gather here today to celebrate the 25th edition of International Mother Tongue Day, under the theme: Multilingual education, a pillar of apprenticeship and inter-generational learning. As we reflect on the significance of this occasion, we are reminded of the importance of linguistic diversity, cultural heritage, and the vital role that mother tongues play in shaping our identities and societies.
Language is more than just a means of communication; it is a reflection of our history, values, and traditions. Our mother tongues are at the core of our cultural identities, connecting us to our roots and shaping our unique perspectives on the world. They carry the wisdom, stories, and knowledge passed down through generations, enriching our lives and communities in profound ways.
On this special day, let us reaffirm our commitment to preserving and promoting linguistic diversity in Nkwen, recognizing the beauty and richness that Nkwen language and each language brings to the textile of human civilization. Let us celebrate the unique sounds, words, and expressions that make each mother tongue a treasure worth cherishing and protecting.
As we mark the 25th edition of International Mother Tongue Day, today February 21st 2024, let us pledge to empower future generations (children and youths) to embrace their linguistic heritage, to value the languages of others, and to build bridges of understanding and respect across cultures. Let us work together to ensure that every voice is heard, every story is told, and every language is valued for the unique perspective it offers.
Together, let us celebrate the beauty of Nkwen language, the power of diversity, and the unifying force of communication that transcends borders and brings us closer as a global community. Happy International Mother Tongue Day 2024 to all!
Thank you.

25th edition of 2024 International Mother Tongu...
At the end of each month, we give out cash prizes to 5 people with the best insights in the past month
as well as coupon points to 15 people who didn't make the top 5, but shared high-quality content.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
