ÈLÀ IS COMING SOON!
<p>In the village of Ogbuo, where moon sits on the sky and sun kisses different heads,</p><p>still stands the ancient anticipation of Ela, the saviour, promised to arrive</p><p>The coming of Èlà dominates the atmosphere of elders' council</p><p></p><p>Elders to Akindele( Great grand father):</p><p>"Èlàa is coming soon" they said</p><p>So he folded his dreams like prayer mats,</p><p>Fled from Ògún, Sàngó, Èsú, Òsun, to Wait for Èlà on heaven’s doorstep,</p><p>Counting clouds instead of years.</p><p></p><p>Elders to Olanrewaju( Grandfather):</p><p>"Èlà is coming soon,"again they echoed </p><p>So he built no house,</p><p>His only land walk as sacrifice into the air</p><p>Only sowed offerings into the gallow</p><p>And called it faith.</p><p><br/></p><p>Elders to Olusola( Father):</p><p>"Èlà is coming soon", </p><p>So he knelt in the house of meditation,</p><p>Offering his sweat,</p><p>Planting his children in fear,</p><p>And teaching them patience that no fruit it bears </p><p></p><p>Elders to Olarewaju(Me):</p><p>Èlà is coming soon —</p><p>But I’ve seen as sun wakes and sleeps too many times</p><p>To still be waiting for footsteps in the sky.</p><p>My hunger won’t wait for prophecy,</p><p>My crave to witness won’t bow to revelation.</p><p></p><p>So I stand and say:</p><p>Enough!, no one is coming.</p><p>If salvation be real,</p><p>Let it start with bread in the mouths of the poor,</p><p>Light in the eyes of the hopeless,</p><p>And truth in the tongue of the preacher.</p><p></p><p>Because I’m done inheriting waiting.</p><p>Done watching faith rot into Ash.</p><p>If heaven has ears,</p><p>Let it answer.</p><p>If not, Then, maybe we are the coming.</p><p>Maybe we are the return we’ve been promised.</p><p></p><p>©️Olarewaju</p><p></p><p></p><p>GLOSSARY:</p><p></p><p>Ogbuo: An imaginary village name.</p><p></p><p>Akindele: A Yoruba name, meaning "The valour reaches home"</p><p></p><p>Olanrewaju: A Yoruba name , meaning "Wealth is progressing."</p><p></p><p>Olusola: A clipped yoruba name from "OLUWANISOLA" Meaning "God is the maker of wealth."</p><p></p><p>Olarewaju: A yoruba name, meaning "Wealth progresses."</p><p></p><p>Ògún: The Yoruba god of iron</p><p></p><p>Sàngó: The Yoruba god of fire and thunder</p><p></p><p>Èsú: The Yoruba god of trickery, judgement and deception</p><p></p><p>Òsun: The Yoruba goddess of water, purity and love.</p><p></p><p>Èlà: In yoruba belief, Ela is the spirit of salvation and purity ----- The manifestation of redemption and the bringer of truth.</p><p></p>
