<p>Before the rest of us knew the weight of life, you were already holding it steady.</p><p>You were introduced to responsibility before you even knew what rest looked like.</p><p>While other girls your age were learning hairstyles,</p><p>you were learning the basics of motherhood,</p><p>how to quiet crying siblings,</p><p>how to answer questions meant for adults</p><p>without looking lost.</p><p><br/></p><p>My mother’s first fruit,</p><p>the evidence that she did something right the first time.</p><p>Our assistant mother.</p><p>The quiet organizer of chaos.</p><p>The one who always knows where everything is,</p><p>who hides snacks but somehow still shares them,</p><p>who scolds us like a parent</p><p>and then stands in front of us like a shield when it matters.</p><p><br/></p><p>You defend us in rooms we are not in.</p><p>You protect us in ways we don’t always notice.</p><p>Sometimes we only realise later</p><p>that an argument never reached us</p><p>because you intercepted it halfway.</p><p><br/></p><p>My personal helper,</p><p>not the kind that carries bags,</p><p>but the kind that carries people.</p><p><br/></p><p>There are things you gave up that we didn’t see at the time.</p><p>Plans you cancelled quietly.</p><p>Opportunities you delayed.</p><p>Moments you swallowed your own feelings</p><p>so peace could stay a little longer in the house.</p><p><img alt="" src="/media/inline_insight_image/1000475251.jpg"/></p><p>You made heavy days seem ordinary.</p><p>Growing up with you meant growing up with backup.</p><p>Even when we argued,</p><p>even when stubbornness filled the air,</p><p>there was always this unspoken rule:</p><p>no one outside gets to come for us.</p><p><br/></p><p>You carry praise and pressure on the same head</p><p>and somehow still walk with your shoulders upright.</p><p>Relatives use you as an example</p><p>without knowing the weight that comes with being “the example.”</p><p>And beyond the responsibilities,</p><p>beyond the titles,</p><p>you are simply… you.</p><p><br/></p><p>The person who laughs the loudest when something is truly funny.</p><p>The one who gives advice even when we claim not to need it.</p><p>The one who shows up, even tired, even busy, even unprepared.</p><p><img alt="" src="/media/inline_insight_image/1000475250.jpg"/></p><p>I don’t say it enough,</p><p>but I am grateful for you in ways that don’t always know how to become sentences.</p><p>Blessed, even.</p><p>Because not everyone grows up with a sister who feels like an extra layer of protection,</p><p>a quiet encourager,</p><p>and a built-in defender all at once.</p><p>Today is just a reminder</p><p>that the one who has always been strong for everyone else</p><p>deserves softness too.</p><p><br/></p><p>Happy birthday big sis🎉🎉,</p><p>Adanna ya.</p><p>Nwaanyị siri ike.</p><p>Thank you for being the version of strength</p><p>that never needed noise to be seen. </p><p><br/></p><p>And even when we don’t always say it out loud,</p><p><em>we see you, and we love you</em>❤️.</p><p><img alt="" src="/media/inline_insight_image/1000474920.jpg"/></p>
