HUMANITY VS RELIGION
<p>Let me ask you something.</p><p>If there is no heaven...</p><p>No hell...</p><p>No reward...</p><p>No punishment...</p><p>Would you still be good?</p><p><br/></p><p>Pause.</p><p><br/></p><p>If nobody told you stealing was a sin,</p><p>would you still know that stealing from another human being is wrong?</p><p><br/></p><p>If nobody told you killing was forbidden,</p><p>would you need a scripture to understand that blood is not water?</p><p><br/></p><p>Would you still care?</p><p><br/></p><p>Because sometimes I wonder...</p><p>Maybe we are not good because we are religious.</p><p><br/></p><p>Maybe we are religious because we are trying to understand the goodness that was already living inside us.</p><p><br/></p><p>Think about Nigeria.</p><p><br/></p><p>Somebody wants to cheat you</p><p>“God dey watch you!”</p><p><br/></p><p>Somebody wants to steal</p><p>“God forbid!”</p><p><br/></p><p>Somebody does something wicked</p><p>“God go punish you!”</p><p><br/></p><p>But I have one question:</p><p><br/></p><p>What if God wasn't watching?</p><p>Would you still behave?</p><p><br/></p><p>Pause.</p><p><br/></p><p>This is not an attack on religion.</p><p>It is an examination of humanity.</p><p><br/></p><p>Because I have seen people carry the Bible</p><p>but fail to carry compassion.</p><p><br/></p><p>I have seen people hold the Qur'an</p><p>but hold hatred in their hearts.</p><p><br/></p><p>I have seen people shout,</p><p>“God is love!”</p><p>while treating another human being like they are less than human.</p><p><br/></p><p>And I have seen people who don't believe in God</p><p>feed the hungry,</p><p>help strangers,</p><p>and protect the weak.</p><p><br/></p><p>So tell me...</p><p><br/></p><p>Who taught them to be good?</p><p><br/></p><p>Before you became Christian,</p><p>before you became Muslim,</p><p>before you became atheist</p><p><br/></p><p>you were human.</p><p><br/></p><p>Before someone told you,</p><p>“Thou shalt not kill,”</p><p>you already understood pain.</p><p><br/></p><p>Before someone threatened you with hell,</p><p>you already knew cruelty hurts.</p><p><br/></p><p>Empathy came before the sermon.</p><p><br/></p><p>But don't misunderstand me.</p><p><br/></p><p>Religion has done beautiful things.</p><p>It has fed people,</p><p>built schools,</p><p>given hope,</p><p>and taught forgiveness.</p><p><br/></p><p>But what happens when religion forgets humanity?</p><p><br/></p><p>When the label becomes more important than the life?</p><p><br/></p><p>Christian versus Muslim.</p><p>Muslim versus Christian.</p><p>Believer versus unbeliever.</p><p>Us versus them.</p><p><br/></p><p>Suddenly, the person standing before you</p><p>is no longer a human being.</p><p><br/></p><p>They are just...</p><p>a different belief.</p><p>And that is dangerous.</p><p><br/></p><p>Because ideas can be debated.</p><p>Human lives cannot be replaced.</p><p><br/></p><p>So I ask again:</p><p><br/></p><p>If there were no heaven,</p><p>would you still help the poor?</p><p><br/></p><p>If there were no hell,</p><p>would you still refuse to hurt the innocent?</p><p><br/></p><p>If nobody was watching,</p><p>would you still choose integrity?</p><p><br/></p><p>Because if your morality disappears</p><p>the moment punishment disappears...</p><p><br/></p><p>perhaps you were not being good.</p><p>You were being afraid.</p><p><br/></p><p>Maybe the highest form of morality</p><p>is doing good because you understand</p><p>what it means to be human.</p><p><br/></p><p>To see someone hungry</p><p>and ask, “Have you eaten?”</p><p><br/></p><p>To see someone drowning</p><p>and save them</p><p>before asking what they believe.</p><p>Because they are human.</p><p>And perhaps that is the religion</p><p>we have forgotten.</p><p><br/></p><p>Humanity.</p><p><br/></p><p>No denomination.</p><p>No tribe.</p><p>No border.</p><p><br/></p><p>Just...</p><p><br/></p><p>humanity.</p><p><br/></p><p>So perhaps the real battle isn't</p><p>Humanity versus Religion.</p><p><br/></p><p>Perhaps it is...</p><p><br/></p><p>Humanity versus our inability to see humanity in one another.</p><p><br/></p><p>And I refuse to believe</p><p>that we must lose our humanity</p><p>to prove our faith.</p><p><br/></p><p>I refuse.</p><p><br/></p><p>Maybe the final question won't be:</p><p>“What religion did you profess?”</p><p>Maybe it will simply be:</p><p>“What did you do with the humanity I gave you?”</p><p><br/></p><p>Pause.</p><p><br/></p><p>Think about that.</p><p><br/></p><p>Muhammad Mercurial 🫡🖋️</p>
