The likes of BLACKPINK, BTS, ENHYPEN, SEVENTEEN, Stray Kids, TWICE, e.t.c. Back then, I had this conflict that K-pop was weird because of how people in my class associated it with negativity. Like it's for weaklings or something. Hanging around certain people can definitely influence your choice of style...Though, during this time, I secretly listened to TWICE— "Scientist", "What Is Love?", "Perfect World". My bias was Jeong-yeon🥹 Anyways, it wasn't until 2023 that I REALLY started listening to K-pop and I could actually relate to what my friends felt then.I started with BLACKPINK. Oh, my God! What BLACKPINK music didn't I listen to???Is it "Lovesick Girls"? or "Ready to Love"? or "WHISTLE"? or "BOOMBAYAH", "How You Like That", "Shut Down", "Kill This Love", or "Pretty Savage"???? Or even each of their singles— Rosé's "Gone" and "On The Ground", Lalisa's "Money" and "LALISA", Jennie's "SOLO" and "You and Me", and Jisoo's "All Eyes On Me" and "FLOWER" (I was so glad when Jisoo was allowed to release two singles that year because it was long overdue.) As I listened to BLACKPINK daily on repeat, I began to fall for one particular member of the group... Guess............ Rosé!!!! Park Chaeyoung!!!! She just captured my heart. I really don't know.But I loved everything she did, honestly.Obviously, I didn't know her personally, but as a fanatic who watched the part of herself she presented or made available to the world, I loved every bit. Currently while writing, I can feel the nostalgia. So wistful🥹 Gradually, I started getting deeper and deeper into the K-pop world. I decided if I really wanted to know K-pop, I had to listen to various artists/groups, not just BLACKPINK. So, I embarked on a voyage— a quest, an odyssey— into K-pop! I stopped by LE SSERAFIM, SEVENTEEN, ENHYPEN, Stray Kids, BTS, TWICE, IVE, NCT Dream, and other NCTs, TXT, BSS, TREASURE, and so many others! These different groups had different vibes to them. For instance, whenever I listened to ENHYPEN, I felt so alive and my imagination ran wildddddd. Good wild. My body also bent in different shapes while moving to the rhythm of the songs😂... Try listening to "Drunk-Dazed", "Tamed-Dashed", or "SHOUT OUT". You might understand. Whenever I listened to NCT Dream, I felt unusually happy. Listen to "Candy", "Broken Melodies", or "Beatbox" Whenever I listened to Stray Kids, I felt like a bad guy with a guitar and a spike haircut smashing the instrument to the floor😂So weird...I know😂🙏🏽. Listen to "LALALALA", or "Back door". And it goes on and on… They each had their vibes to them. And me, singing along with my messy, definitely incorrect lyrics which I didn't know the meaning of... The whole experience brought me pure joy for some weird reasons. Anyways, I'm still on this voyage, because I've definitely not listened to 50% of K-pop. So, wish me luck, dear readers! I just thought to share this tonight because K-pop is such an enthralling genre. If you're hesitant on listening, try it. You definitely won't regret.
