Lab tested, Pride Approved
<p>I live everyday, putting others first</p><p>My body can break down at any moment,</p><p>My eyes keep protesting against the light from the microscope,</p><p>My sense of smell can't take the harsh welcome into the gross lab,</p><p>I need to work on samples to save a life every other day,</p><p>Yet knowing, because I've been taught this time and time again:</p><p>To "<em>Treat every sample as highly infectious"</em></p><p><br/></p><p>And what do I get?!</p><p>Some silly, misplaced hierarchy </p><p>That wants me kept at the base</p><p>My patients just choose to assume,</p><p>I'm the nurse in charge of their care,</p><p>Or the doctor who shouldn't be clueless enough </p><p>To not have a consultation session in the "<strong>phlebotomy room"</strong></p><p>Oh, come on!</p><p><br/></p><p>Do you even know who you're dealing with?!</p><p>I hold the power to discover all I want about this complex human body,</p><p>From just a few cells....</p><p>The reason I read like crazy is to be outstanding in theory and practice,</p><p>So that your loved one, won't leave you sooner than they should </p><p><br/></p><p>I'm not staging a hierarchy war,</p><p>I'm calling for a balance</p><p><em>Being the bedrock of modern diagnostic medicine, </em></p><p><em>Doesn't mean I'm at rock bottom!</em></p><p>The real war meets me in my lab,</p><p>Where I'm fighting time, and taking guided steps</p><p>To ensure precise, accurate and timely results</p><p><br/></p><p>It's about time you knew us,</p><p>The brave warriors constantly fighting behind the scene,</p><p>Risking it all, helping you live in good health </p><p>That's us...</p><p>Proudly...</p><p>Unapologetically...</p><p>Medical Laboratory Scientists!</p>
