My chemical romance pt 2: I remember You

I remember being so angry that you never loved me the way I wanted

So hurt that you never wanted me the way I felt

So convinced you didn’t desire me the way I thought I needed.

And yet… you were always there when I needed you.

We went back and forth over our feelings

Fought over our invisible ceilings

Two people almost in sync, almost the same, yet always just out of alignment

I was young, reckless, barely held together by bad habits and forced nonchalance

You were young, scared, carrying so much quietly, barely held together by routines and vigilance I barely noticed.

I wanted things my way, everything I wanted, whenever I wanted it even if it hurt you.

And still… you stayed.

Sometimes it feels like I was the one thing you couldn’t quit, even when it should have been easy.

I remember the nights we didn’t know what to do with ourselves

When everything sucked and you came to me just to vent.

I liked making you happy

You had that little dance when joy finally got to you, the one I pretended not to notice but could never stop seeing.

I remember the moments you cracked

When everything piled up and you leaned on me, every ounce of weight you’d been holding in the world.

It made me feel needed.

Important.

Alive.

I hated that you never chose me without hesitation.

But now, seeing it clearly…

You were scared. Careful. Holding so much in ways I couldn’t see

And I wasn't exactly the definition of safe.

And still… you stayed

The small gestures I thought didn’t matter

The leaning on me

The soft ways you let me in when I didn’t even know how to ask.

I didn’t see it then

But it’s all there

And it surprises me

How much of you was quietly giving, always.

And I didn’t notice.

I don’t need everything to go my way anymore.

I don’t need certainty.

I just… like that you’re here.

That somehow, despite everything, you’re still here.
