My Horror Movie Obsession

I have come to the conclusion that my love for horror movies is not just a hobby anymore. It is a full-blown obsession, almost like a kink, and I am not even ashamed to say it.

There is a strange kind of excitement that runs through me whenever I am about to watch a horror movie. While most people are covering their eyes and shouting, I am leaning closer to the screen, fully invested, analyzing every sound, every shadow, every wrong decision a character is about to make.

I can spend my last data subscription just to download or stream horror movies online. It does not matter if it is 2GB or 5GB, if I hear that a new horror movie just dropped, I will find a way to watch it. From Netflix to Telegram channels to random streaming sites, I have them all saved. My search history is basically "best horror movies 2026" and "latest horror movies to download."

What makes it even funnier is that my first date was to watch a horror movie. I know most people would go for a romantic comedy or a nice dinner, but not me. I thought, if we can survive jumpscares together and still laugh about it afterwards, then we might actually have something real. That is my own love language.

My sisters still do not understand me. There will be a scene where someone is being stabbed or sliced, everyone in the room is cringing and screaming, and I am just sitting there laughing. Not because it is funny, but because I am thinking "you saw the warning signs, you heard the music change, why did you still go into that room alone?" To me, it is almost comedic how predictable and yet thrilling it is.

For a long time I wondered, am I the only one who loves horror this much? Am I weird for finding comfort in movies that are supposed to scare me?

But I have realized it is not really about the blood or the gore. It is about the adrenaline. It is about the suspense, the mystery, the feeling of your heart racing while you know you are actually safe on your couch. It is storytelling at its most intense. It makes you feel alive.

So no, this is not weird. This is just me. I love horror movies, I love reading about horror movies, I love talking about them for hours.

If you are like me, please let me know I am not alone. Horror lovers, where are you? Let us gather here.

And if you have a good horror movie recommendation, abeg drop it. I have data and I am ready.
