PRACTICALITY OF LOVE

Love is not just a word we say. Love is what we do.

Practical love means you stop doing evil. And you stop wishing people evil.

We think evil is only when someone carries a knife. No. Evil is also when you see your brother doing well and your heart is bitter. Evil is when you hear that someone failed and you are secretly happy. Evil is when you can help someone stand but you choose to fold your hands and watch them fall. Evil is when you join gossip to spoil someone's name.

That is evil too. And we must stop it.

The second part is this: wish people well from a clean heart.

Many of us believe that success is for one person alone. That if he shines, I cannot shine. That if she gets that opportunity, mine is gone. So we start to envy, to hate, to wish for others to fail.

But that belief is false.

Look at this picture well. See how everyone, old, young, even the man in the wheelchair is walking towards the same door? The door is called LOVE. And it is wide enough for everybody.

Success is like that door. There is enough space. Everyone can enter. Everyone can attain it by doing good.

Your neighbour's blessing does not block your blessing.

Your friend's promotion does not stop your promotion.

Someone else being happy today does not mean happiness has finished in the market.

There is enough for all of us.

So what should you do? Be kind to one another. Love your neighbour as yourself. If you don't want people to mock your failure, don't mock theirs. If you want people to celebrate you, learn to celebrate others.

Doing good will never stop yours. Wishing someone well will never stop yours. In fact, that is how your own door opens.

That is practical love. Love that does not do evil. Love that does not wish evil. Love that is kind.

Let us live it this week.

Happy Sunday.
