THE DATE THAT BANKRUPTED ME — WAHALA PRO MAX FOR DATING
<p> — WAHALA PRO MAX FOR DATING</p><p><br/></p><p>Let me tell you how I went on a date and came back as a sponsor.</p><p><br/></p><p>He asked me out. Confidently. "I know a nice place, let's go Saturday." He even said "Don't worry about anything." Those are famous last words.</p><p>I entered that restaurant smelling like soft life. Dress fine. Makeup fine. Hope very high. I thought maybe, just maybe, this one is different.</p><p>We ordered. Or should I say, HE ordered. Chicken, fish, two cocktails because "you should try this one". I was nodding like a mumu who just wanted love to win.</p><p>Then the bill came. The waiter dropped it like a bomb. 70k.</p><p>My date looked at the bill. Looked at his pocket. Looked at me. And with a straight face said "Ah babe, I think I forgot my wallet in the car... but my car is at home."</p><p><br/></p><p>I laughed. I thought it was a joke. It was not a joke.</p><p><br/></p><p>His wallet was not in the car. His car was not anywhere near. His entire financial plan for the date was ME.</p><p>So I paid. Everything. Food I did not even enjoy because shock had already killed my appetite. Drinks he drank most of. Even service charge.</p><p>It would have ended there, but no. Outside the restaurant, he said "Can you help me with TFare? I will transfer back."</p><p>Transfer back ke? The transfer that till today has not entered?</p><p>I sent him transport fare home. Me that came on a date expecting to be treated like soft babe, I ended up funding a man's night out and his Uber home.</p><p>I got home that night and just sat on my floor. Not because of the money, but because of what it means. I keep asking myself is it all men? Or do I have a spiritual magnet for the wrong ones?</p><p>It is funny until you go quiet and realize how many women have this exact story. How many of us have paid for disappointment and still smiled through it. How many of us have been the giver even when we showed up to be held.</p><p><br/></p><p>Dating in this Abuja, is now survival. Everybody is fine until bill comes. Then you see character.</p><p>I am not even angry anymore. I am just tired. Tired of auditioning to be loved by people who did not even come prepared to love themselves.</p><p>So sisters, if your date ever says "I forgot my wallet", stand up. Forget your own bag </p><p>too and see who remembers faster.</p><p><br/></p>
At the end of the month, we give out prizes in 3 categories: Best Content, Top Engagers and
Most Engaged Content.
Best Content
Top Engagers
Most Engaged Content
Best Content
We give out cash prizes to between 7 and 20 community members with the best insights in the past month.
The winners are picked by an in-house selection process.
The winners are NOT picked from the leaderboards/rankings, we choose winners based on the quality, originality
and insightfulness of their content.
Here are a few other things to know for the Best Content track
1
Quality over Quantity — You stand a higher chance of winning by publishing a few really good insights across the entire month,
rather than a lot of low-quality, spammy posts.
2
Share original, authentic, and engaging content that clearly reflects your voice, thoughts, and opinions.
3
Avoid using AI to generate content—use it instead to correct grammar, improve flow, enhance structure, and boost clarity.
4
Explore audio content—high-quality audio insights can significantly boost your chances of standing out.
5
Use eye-catching cover images—if your content doesn't attract attention, it's less likely to be read or engaged with.
6
Share your content in your social circles to build engagement around it.
