Mercy's eyes widened. "But if you're my father, why did you abandon us?" Richard lowered his head. "I never abandoned you. Someone stole you away from me." Suddenly, his phone rang. He answered it, and a frightening voice came through. "If you tell Mercy the truth, you will lose everything you have." Richard's face turned pale. "Who is this?" he demanded. The caller laughed before ending the call. Meanwhile, at Daniel's house, Daniel searched through his father's locked study. Inside an old drawer, he discovered a brown envelope containing a document. His hands trembled as he read it. It was a birth record bearing Mercy's name—and his father's signature. Daniel stared at the paper in disbelief. "How can my father be connected to Mercy's birth?"
