The Man I Wanted, but couldn't have

I think it was just yesterday,

At the grocery store down the street

I met this guy, whose gaze sure swept me off my feet.

I barely got a chance to know his name,

But I couldn't forget his scent,

Or his beautiful brown eyes and handsome face.

I remember it all -

The little conversation we had when he bumped me

"I'm sorry", he said and the rest went on in my head

Then, I couldn't seem to react

Or was I too stunned to even move?

And off he went like nothing happened

-----

I prayed for a miracle,

Maybe a reason to feel again

I'd never once believed in love at first sight,

Yet, I spent nights dreaming of this unfriendly stranger

I walked past that street everyday,

Randomly shopping for groceries I didn't need

Just wanting to see his face again.

And one day, on my way back from "doesn't matter"

I felt the wave of a familiar scent......

"What's with this nostalgic feeling?"

I lifted my face and met his gaze

Bells rang in my ears, time stopped at that very moment-

One I only often got to relive in my DREAMS

Once again, I lost my chance to seek his name

Just standing there,

Having lone conversations with a smile on my face

He should think I'm crazy already

He passed me by without stealing a second glance

And as I slowly watched him leave, it suddenly hit me

"This might be your final chance!"

Still, I couldn't react

Or was I too stunned to even move?

I look back now and the memories keep flooding back

If only I took that chance to know his name

If only I took in that scent longer in his embrace

I might've had more today to say

There went the stranger of my dreams

A chance lost that I may never get back
