WHEN MY DRIVE RESIGNED WITHOUT NOTICE

You know that morning when you wake up and you have it all figured out?

You will wake up by 5am. You will drink water. You will journal. You will go to the gym. You will apply for 10 jobs. You will start that business. You will save money. You will finally become that disciplined, soft-life person you have been posting about on your vision board.

For 5 minutes, you are unstoppable. You are a motivational speaker in your own head. You are already imagining your testimonial speech.

And then... life happens.

By 10am, the motivation has clocked out without notice. It didn't even say bye. It just packed its bag, dropped your to-do list, and left you there on your bed staring at the ceiling, asking yourself "Wait, what exactly is my life plan again?"

Your to-do list is on the bed looking at you. You are looking at it. Your phone is beside you buzzing with notifications you don't have the energy to reply. Your laptop is open with 15 tabs emails, job sites, business ideas, YouTube tutorials you said you will watch. But your body is just lying there like "we will do it tomorrow, please."

And the funny part is, you have "YOU GOT THIS" and "DISCIPLINE > MOTIVATION" written boldly on your wall, but your brain is whispering "Got what exactly? Because I don't get it. I am confused."

I have learned that this feeling does not mean you are lazy. It does not mean you are not serious. It means you are human. It means you are overwhelmed. It means you tried to carry a whole year in one morning. It means you are carrying big dreams with a tired body.

Motivation is not that loyal friend that stays every day. Some days it will show up loud and strong. Some days it will resign without notice. What matters is that even when it clocks out, you still don't beat yourself up. You still don't call yourself a failure.

So if you are lying down today staring at the ceiling, confused, with crumpled to-do lists around you, iced coffee getting warm, laptop staring at you...welcome. We are many on this table. You are not the only one whose drive resigned today.

Rest today if you need to. Breathe. Close the 15 tabs. Then pick just ONE small thing tomorrow. Not ten. Just one. Because that ceiling you are staring at? You won't stare at it forever. The drive will come back.

And when it does, you will be ready.
