WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT

So earlier this week, the 2026 ballon d'or award took place in London and Harry Kane won the top prize for the men's category.

Harry Kane's award was well deserved. He didn't just become an exceptional player today, he had been exceptional since his days at Tottenham Hotspur. To think that this man even struggled to break into the first team at Leicester, and was rejected by Arsenal at 14 for being too fat. Kane did not allow the rejection deter him, he kept working hard till he got his chance, first at Leicester and then at Spurs.

Kane's struggle still continued after he was able to break into the team. This time, it wasn't about his performance, it was about winning trophies. Kane kept playing at Tottenham till about 30 without winning a trophy, then he moved to Bayern, a team known to be serial winners and still failed to win a trophy in his first season. Eventually, he won one in his second season. Then came the third season; he scored a lot of goals for both club and country and won trophies. It seemed like it was going to be like every other season where he did well, little did he know that the story was about to change.

On Monday 26th October, Harry Kane was presented the men's ballon d'or, signifying his status as the best football player on the planet. At that moment, I felt really happy for him and a thought has been pestering my heart ever since, a Bible verse from Isaiah 60:22 that says, “The smallest family will become a thousand people, and the tiniest group will become a mighty nation. At the right time, I, the LORD, will make it happen.”

To everyone who has faced rejections, failures, retrogressions and so on, your maker wants you to know that when the time is right, He will make it happen. Just like Harry Kane, keep showing up, keep being diligent.
