When You Feel Like the Least Qualified Person in the Room

Dear beautiful one,What a week it has been!But today, I want us to talk about a Bible character. Remember, I am doing a monthly series on bible characters and what I learnt from them. So today, I'm talking about someone we can all relate to.If there is one person in the Bible who exemplifies overthinking, it is Gideon.Before he became known as a leader and hero, he was hiding in a place where people make wine. He was trying to prepare wheat in secret so the enemy wouldn't use him for 'suya'Just joking.Then, an angel came and called him a strong and brave man. If I were Gideon, I would have looked around that dark place and wondered whether the angel was really talking to me or to someone else with the same name.'Are you talking to me?'But God was ready to use him.Gideon's story shows that people can feel weak, but God is patient with us. God saw Gideon as a strong fighter, but Gideon saw himself as the weakest.We've all been there: we have heard someone was chosen to do something, and we've questioned God's choices. Like God, him? Imagine people who heard Paul was chosen? They would have said," God, e no suppose be'God does things in ways we do not always understand. Remember, His ways are not our ways.One thing I learned from Gideon is that he asked God for a sign. When I was not sure if God wanted me to do my event, I prayed and said, God, if you really sent me, let someone remind me about it. Then someone from church suddenly brought it up with me.This showed me that you can ask God for a sign or ask Him questions. God does not get tired of us when we keep asking. Gideon liked to check things many times. He put out a piece of wool and asked God to make it wet while the ground stayed dry. Then, the next night, he asked God to do the opposite, just to be sure.God was very patient with Gideon even when he was worried.Another thing that stayed with me was how Gideon didn't believe he was called. In that vigil when my event was confirmed, my friend told me what God had said, and I laughed. I look at everyone in the disability space as more qualified, with so many certifications, and also more events and schools. And all I have is a lived experience of living with a beautiful boy with Autism.I questioned God," What do I have that those people don't have?'I never got the answer, but I know if God called me, who am I to argue with him? Who are you to argue with God?Then, let's get to the part where Gideon stopped asking for signs and started doing what God said. When it was time to fight, God reduced Gideon's army. He started with 32,000 men, but God told him to take only 300. This taught Gideon that it is not about having many people or being strong by yourself. It is about trusting God, so when you win, you know God helped you.That also comes back to me when I wrote to brands about it and was excited that they were going to sponsor and back me up. Imagine having 30 emails written to brands, and not more than two responded.God basically said, 'All glory would be given to me and me alone.'If you feel today like you are not good enough, not ready, or like God made a mistake, remember that He chose you before you were born.From another chosen person, I tell you: trust in God, and see yourself in his eyes.And if you've been scared to do what God asked you to do, may you be filled with immense courage and ideas on how to carry it out, and, most importantly, may God provide the manpower. Most importantly, may He reveal His plan for your life.I hope you have a good weekend. This is the only weekend I am staying at home in September, and I will enjoy it by watching season 3 of Night Agent.
